Smaug Vs Artories Funny Dark Souls
Given that we're hunting monsters you'd have to rule out all humanoid Dark Souls bosses.
I'm assuming that their mechanics would be overhauled to fit MH combat rather than DS combat.
The Gravetender wolf from the dlc could work, so could Vordt. Both have good melee abilities and you could throw in some frost attacks.
Ancient Wyvern and Nameless Kings 1st phase with the King himself removed could also work as we already have wyverns.

Vordt could literally be a great jagras reskin, all he does is charge around and get cheesed by sl 12 players. Gravetender wolf made me angery, because unlike sif, I felt no remorse of that stupid jumpy sob
the big ol lightning chicken would both fit and make sense. They could rip him from dark souls as is, go "look guys new bird wyvern" and people would eat it up
also vordt is (was?) a human, and pontiff's rings turned both him and the dancer into what they are today
Having a generic Everlasting Dragon from Dark Souls complete with a weakness to Thunder would work pretty well for me, though I'd personally love to see the Gaping Dragon stalking the Rotten Vale, or perhaps Seath roosting in the Elder's Recess or taking over Xeno'Jiiva's arena after curb-stomping it in his intro video.

Lechen from Witcher is kinda humanoid...

they could even just reskin zorah's magma cores for the immortality crystal
I think it will be Manus. He is the alleged furtive pygmy. He is the start of it all.
As for the armor set and weapon, it will be fitting that we get will be Artorius the Abyss Walker with the greatsword.
As for the Palico stuff, it will just be a full armor that will turn into Sif the wolf.

Not just kind of. He is humanoid by definition.

but would it really work for ds humanoids? most are just...human. If you were to bring in something vaugley human it might work, but things like artorias or gael have no real place in mh

Which sucks, because those two are considered by many to be the 2 best boss fights in the entire series.

yeah, I personally find ludwig to beat artorias, but hes probably a bit too gruesome for mh...
but if he was in the game, we could get the moonlight greatsword in yet another boss oriented game

I was mostly just correcting his wording, buuuuut.
Ya. I don't think the leshen really belongs in mhw, but they did it anyways.
There isn't anything holding them back from those characters really. Unless they have some vague definition of what is ok. Leshen is as much human as those 2 are beast. Stuck somewhere in between.
I thought so many other monsters from the witcher 3 would have been much more appropriate, but with the introduction of the Leshen... who knows.
